Beware of Chemical Curtain Cleaners.
We are seeing a lot of curtains coming in for cleaning that have been sprayed either with the so called Curtain Majic Curtain Cleaner or with Exit Mould.
A curtain cleaner they are not. The product will remove and temporally control the bacteria that cause mildew on curtains. Mostly this is on the lining but not always. Its similar to a product you would spray on cobblestones.
The chemical product can cause damage to fabrics, especially if left to dry on the fabric. Often applied to the linnings it can, once dry rub off onto the material and when it gets wet can comeback to life if allowed to dry on a fabric which is later washed and in doing so can damage or bleach the colour out of the fabric.
The most important point of the claim about these curtain cleaners though, is it is not a curtain cleaner but a mould killer and mould stain remover.
WARNING:
Spray on cleaners used in households can cause serious damage to curtain fabrics.
Many fabrics are not colour fast and many of these cleaners will either change or remove the colour from the fabric.
Sometimes this may not be noticeable until the curtain gets wet, either when being cleaned or through water ingress at the window.
There is no way to remedy this and the curtain will remain damaged.
The pictures below show what happens.
Splotches show where colour has been stripped from the curtain material.

To clean a curtain it needs washing or perhaps dry cleaning. All the chemical Curtain Cleaners do is remove the mildew and mildew stain on the patches that it is applied to. It does not remove any other stains, grease, hand creams, oils, dirt, dust, odours, cat and dog rubbings and hair, fly dirt, insect dirt, and all those other hazards that are part of a curtains life.
Many people spend thousands of dollars on curtains and expect specialist advice on cleaning and care of their curtains.
Curtain Cleaners.co.nz are those specialists.
Hey there terrific blog! Does running a blog like this require a lot of work?
I have virtually no knowledge of computer programming but I was hoping to start my
own blog in the near future. Anyway, if you have
any ideas or tips for new blog owners please share.
I know this is off subject but I simply wanted to ask.
Kudos!
Thanks learn wordpress. It’s reasonably easy. Have good relevant information about the topic for Google.
